Ilaiyaraaja won the Gold Remi Award for Best Music Score jointly with film composer M. Viswanathan at the World Fest-Houston Film Festival for the Tamil film Vishwa Thulasi (2005). He has won two Academy awards and two Grammy awards, even numerous international awards and accolades.
